The History of Economic Life and Institutions

Yale has great strength in the area of economic history -- both in the History Department and in other departments, programs and schools around the campus.  Topics covered include most periods of history and parts of the world.  There are many regularly scheduled workshops and colloquia that foster a vibrant ongoing interdisciplinary conversation, as well as an annual conference.  Students interested in doing graduate work in economic history should apply in normal way to the Ph.D. program in history or in the department of their choice.  It is advisable, however, first to contact one or more of the faculty members on the list below.
